SO. There is someone in particular who I have sent this to, but I thought I would share it here too. I know most of my flist probably know Amanda, one way or another, but if you do not, or if you know the name but don't listen, please take this opportunity to check this out.

while i've been a Dresden Dolls fan for a long time, her solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, means a lot to me because it brought together three people whom I consider total geniuses, who did not know each other before, and they all came together via this album. These are Amanda herself obviously, Ben Folds, who produced the record (who got in contact with the Dolls via their website fanmail address) and Neil Gaiman, who wrote the liner notes and put together a companion book of short stories about the album and about various pictures of murdered Amanda Palmers.

These people all meeting and becoming friends - these are all people i was obsessed with WELL before they knew one another - completely broke my brain.

Amanda is never going to be a number 1 mainstream selling artist but she deserves more recognition than she has, and her songwriting is totally brilliant. Its special quality that i love is that she focuses on the specific - especially about relationships, rather than looking at the overall picture she will take some tiny aspects or occurances and write a song about that, which then represents the overall situation. It's really genius and only a few people do it really well, I think Justin Pierre and Ben Folds are the only ones I'd say matched it it my mind.

She's utterly insane but totally brilliant so download or buy WKAP, and here are videos for my favorite songs on it:
