Jul. 4th, 2007 06:57 pmI was drifting off to sleep and I had the most crackpot HP theory.. that Harry would go back in time and kill Voldemort before he made the Horcruxes or something. And that he would be killed himself, but it's ok, cause he hadn't actually been born. and the last scene would be Lily and James with baby Harry, you know how the last word is scar? It'd say something like 'the little boy would grow up, loved by his parents, totally normal, never knowing what it would be like to have his entire ideinty based around a scar'
Also, I have a few queries.
1) Ron's dad told him that all they found of Peter was his finger. Ron tells Harry this. So Ron, and the wizarding world, knew about 'Sirius killing Peter.' Why did he never tell Harry about it before?
2) Snape would have known that it was Peter, not Sirius, working for Voldemort, right? And Dumbles said that Snape re-joined the Order before Voldy's downfall, spying for the good guys. Which leads me to:
3) It would make sense that Snape told the Potters that Voldy was after them. However, the timing seems all wrong. Snape heard the prophecy and told Voldy. Clearly at this time, he hadn't re-joined the Order. But he didn't know it referred to Lily and James. When he found out, aka when they died, he was wracked with guilt, said a big sorry to Dumbles and re-joined the good guys. BUT THE TIMING. Voldy vanished the night the Potters died.In GOF, Snape is meant to have re-joined the goodies before Voldy's downfall. HOWEVER according to HBP it was the Potters death that made him come back.. that's AFTER the downfall. It doesn't add up.
My only idea was that there was a long period of time between Snape hearing the prophecy and telling Voldy, and the Potters death. Like, Snape told Voldy and then Voldy figured out HEY ITS THE POTTERS and Snape was all FUCK NO, OOPS! and goes DUMBLY! HELP! and that's how the Potters knew Voldy was after them.
